City News

Hello and welcome to Think Big City December issue, City News where we share ideas for plus size women and big and tall men.

The Christmas Season has arrived with great fanfare. Are you organised this year? Perhaps this is a cue for you to begin to think big about setting achievable goals. During this month, work on the words for your upcoming New Year's Resolutions.

Whether you are on your own or escaping from the family throng – be our Christmas guest this year.

Cassie advises Adam on what gifts to suggest for Big and Tall Men to choose for their partner.

With Cassie's help, Adam makes gift buying easy for Big and Tall Men

To make it easy for all you Big and Tall Men, I've checked with Cassie on how to streamline our gift giving. She suggests that we read the label on our partner's lingerie or underwear (while they are sleeping) so that we know the correct sizing. "Perfume is a very personal item" she said. "It may be wise to buy a fresh supply of a much loved fragrance." If buying a watch or necklace, observe if only gold or silver jewellery is worn. If choosing clothing, Cassie said to be alert to favourite colours. A gourmet gift basket and flowers goes well if you choose to go on a romantic picnic.

Christmas Tip
Recycle your empty jam jars. Clean and fill with sweets. With pinking sheers, cut a circle of Christmas fabric (plain red or green fabric is good too) 2 cm larger than the lid. Secure with curling ribbon.

Denise's Festive Gifts to bake including a free Christmas cookie recipe.

Hello everyone,
I'm wrapping up my series on gifts to bake for your Christmas party hosts and hostesses. Here is my final Christmas recipe.

After Christmas Day when you have all the leftover Christmas food, make use of our fabulous free recipe section on creatively using leftover Turkey, Prawns, Ham, Pork and Chicken. Enjoy the festive season!

Brown Sugar Christmas Cookies

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup butter/margarine - 4 oz
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • Spices if you wish - nutmeg, cinnamon

Heat oven to 200 C. Cream butter and sugar, add egg and vanilla. Beat until fluffy. Sift dry ingredients, mix in alternately with milk. Chill until stiff enough to handle or overnight. Roll to 3mm (1/8") thick. Cut into Christmas shapes. Bake 8-9 minutes. Cool on trays. When cooled, store in an airtight container until ready to assemble as a Christmas Cookie treat.

Happy cooking,
Denise

That's our newsletter for this month, this Christmas and this year. We look forward to keeping in touch with you in the coming year.
